WEATHER permitting, it is hoped that the delayed third-round ties in the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup will be played on Saturday.

Both of Campion's sides are scheduled to play, with the senior outfit travelling to Church Fenton White Horse, who are mid-table in the York Minster Engineering League, while the reserves host Yorkshire Amateur League Premier Division Ealandians.

Ventus Yeadon Celtic, Campion's fellow Taylor's Timber West Riding County Amateur League side, are a round ahead and meet West Yorkshire League Division One visitors Ilkley Town at Dam Lane (1.30).

Route One Rovers were due to play their West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy home game against Honley, but it has been postponed as their ground at Esholt Cricket Club is a victim of the River Aire bursting its banks.

In the league, Salts should have been hosting Halifax Irish in the Premier Division and, while the Aire overflowed and caused considerable damage to the cricket, bowling greens and tennis courts, the football pitches were virtually unharmed.

However, with damage to access roads around the Sports Association, the game has been called off on health and safety grounds.

Steeton will be hoping to start the new year on a high when second-placed Huddersfield YMCA visit (2pm), while Tyersal, who enjoyed a 6-0 victory over Hunsworth in October, will be seeking to complete the double when the sides clash at East Bierley.
