PARKSIDE School students and staff gave a hearty response to an appeal for food to help people in need at Christmas.
The Cullingworth school’s sixth form students organised the collection of food items that delivered them to the Bingley food bank and the Salvation Army.
Two classes, Mrs Mayho’s 9F and Mrs Walker’s 7C, on the awards for donating the most items.
The sixth form and leader Philip Logan were delighted to see how the whole school came together to support local charities and organisations.
Post-16 students at Parkside are regularly involved in organising events for the wider school and outside committee.
The teenagers recently organised a Halloween party for younger year seven students.
There have also laid on events like tea parties for Cullingworth pensioners, inviting them into school and serving the refreshments.
The sixth form took on the running of the Cullingworth over-60s group at a village church after it was certain with closure after about 50 years.
