A LEADING Silsden councillor has pledged to help the town’s sports club as it recovers from a burglary double whammy.

Town and district councillor, Adrian Naylor, said he was wholeheartedly supporting Silsden Sports Club’s fundraising efforts.

He spoke after the club, based in Keighley Road, launched an appeal for cash to pay for increased security.

The clubhouse was raided on both Christmas Eve and January 10, causing the cancellation of entertainment event that would have brought in £2,500 for funds.

Cllr Naylor said the club’s request for cash would be discussed at the next meeting of Silsden Town Council.

He added: “The cost of the break-in was quite small, but the club is looking for money to increase security for the future.

“Given the amount of effort they’ve put in to help in the community and young children in this area, it’s very sad to see the amount of damage that some mindless vandals are doing for very little return.”
