A KEIGHLEY school has held mock exams and a mock results collection day to prepare its pupils for the real thing.

Sharon Mather, the deputy Head at Holy Family, said that the deliberate delay between the exams and the results collection was intended to be a realistic rehearsal of the summer examination period.

She added: “We ask the students to sit the mock exams just as though they are public examinations.

"It is only fair that the marking and moderating of marks is done to the same standard.

"Once there is that delay for compiling and checking the marking it is only a small step to having a results day, so that all students get their brown envelope to open."

Mrs Mather said the reality of what it is like to receive final results was rehearsed for students in time for them to make changes.

“Some will have been disappointed,” she said, “But they have time to seek out their teachers and take advice about remedying the situation.”
