Euro MP Amjad Bashir dropped into Pennine Cycles to meet husband and wife bosses Paul and Sandra Corcoran.

His visit to the shop followed his recent appointment as the Conservative Party’s spokesman on small and medium-sized enterprises in the European Parliament.

While talking to Paul and Sandra, living Cullingworth, Mr Bashir urged Bradford district shoppers to back small businesses.

He said: “Local independent businesses very often offer a unique product and go above and beyond in terms of the customer service.

“This is certainly the case for Pennine Cycles which is how they’ve created such a strong and unique position for themselves within the bicycle market.

“It was fascinating to hear that some orders come from as far afield as Canada, Switzerland, and even Dubai - it’s great to see a local business continue to flourish.”

Pennine Cycles is set to celebrate its 70th birthday later this year.
