A KEIGHLEY school staged a superhero day in tribute to a former pupil.

Staff and youngsters at Worth Valley Primary took part in activities in memory of Riley Turner.

The four-year-old was killed three years ago.

"We were proud to host a celebration of Riley's life and would like to thank all the children and families who supported the event," said Julie Batey, for the school.

Superhero costumes were worn and there was a special Peace Mala assembly.

The Peace Mala initiative, which aims to unite all faiths, was launched in 2001 after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in America.

Following the assembly, balloons in the Peace Mala colours were released together with one in the form of Spiderman, Riley's favourite superhero.

Pupils gave donations to dress-up and £146 was raised for Peace Mala.
