JONATHAN Brown, Associate Director for the NHS, visited Cowling Primary School as part of the Inspiring the Future Initiative.
The school has already welcomed scientists, lawyers, archaeologists and bankers to talk about their roles and pupils heard from Mr Brown of the huge range of jobs available in the NHS and the opportunities to travel abroad.
Headteacher Sue Marshall said: "Many of our year five and six children were interested in becoming scientists working in hospital laboratories while others showed a keen interest in the operating theatre and becoming surgeons!
"The Inspiring the Future initiative aims to encourage children to think about the types of jobs they would like to be involved with in the future and to open their eyes to the possibilities in today’s global marketplace.
"We are very grateful to Mr Brown for taking the time to visit Cowling. He did confide that he was more nervous talking to our pupils than to the Secretary of State!"
