KEIGHLEY Air Cadets have been shortlisted for the annual Lees Trophy, which honours the best squadron in the entire country.

They have once again been chosen to represent the Central and East Yorkshire Wing for the North Region selection in the contest.

More than 900 squadrons in six regions compete for the honour.

The Keighley 2431 (Keighley) Squadron has gone strength to strength in the past year, increasing numbers, with several cadets achieving marksman level at shooting.

The squadron finished fifth overall at the Wing cross-country championships, with one Keighley cadet winning her age category. Three cadets achieved regional representation at hockey.

Cadets have also received several BTEC qualifications and others are in the process of achieving Duke of Edinburgh awards.

The latest intake of cadets ‘passed out’ from their initial training last month, and an open evening for potential new cadets will be held from 7.30pm on February 29.

Young people aged between 12 and 16 are welcome. E-mail adj.2431@aircadets.co.uk for further information.
