THE SCURVY dogs of Haworth West Lane Baptist Amateurs have raised £859 for the British Heart Foundation.

The group raised the cash with raffles held during the production of the Gilbert and Sullivan comic opera The Pirates Of Penzance.

The Amateurs presented the light-hearted show last autumn at West Lane Baptist Church.

The cheque was presented to British Heart Foundation fundraising manager Sue Green during the society’s recent annual general meeting.

Haworth West Lane Baptist Amateurs members will next Wednesday (February 17) begin rehearsals for their annual spring concert, entitled Out Of The Box.

The concert will be staged on May 6 and 7, with a matinee performance on the Saturday afternoon.

Group spokesman Tim Bastow said: “We aim to showcase the talents of society members, and would welcome any new members.”
