Wharfedale Triangle League First Division: Cullingworth Youth 0 Shipley Town Res 1

YOUTH suffered their first league defeat as lowly Shipley Town Reserves gained a shock win.

Cullingworth were without four players from their last match but can have no excuse for their defeat, having created sufficient golden scoring opportunities in the second half to have won the match comfortably.

While both teams created chances in the first half, it was Shipley who got the winner in just the tenth minute.

Youth laid siege to Shipley’s goal after the interval and only some excellent saves from the keeper and wayward shooting by Youth saw them keep a clean sheet.

Dave Sanderson was Youth’s man of the match. Special thanks goes to the member of the Shipley Town contingent who stepped in as referee when the appointed one failed to arrive.

Leaders Youth have chance to redeem themselves on Sunday when they visit Yeadon Athletic, who are six points behind in second place with two games in hand, though Cullingworth have a superior goal difference.

Premier Division: Keighley Town 5 Saltaire 1

Town made an emphatic return to action after a long long-off due to the weather.

Craig Morris scored a hat-trick and there were also goals for Leon Smith and Michael Donohoe.

Town play Bradford Phoenix at Marley in the semi-final of the Keighley & District FA Sunday Cup on Sunday.
