Wharfedale Triangle League Division One: Cullingworth Youth 3 Aire Valley 0

AIRE Valley had scored 11 times in their last match while Youth had been unable to register in their last two games.

However, Cullingworth got back in the goals to earn victory, though two missed sitters in the first 10 minutes had their manager thinking their drought was to continue.

In the 12th minute, 18-year-old Sam Fox unleashed a shot from 20 yards, giving the keeper no chance as Cullingworth heaved a huge sigh of relief. Continuing to have most of the play, Youth increased their lead 10 minutes later through Josh Town and, before the break, a great header from Chris Mawson made it 3-0.

In the second half Youth appeared to ease off a little and fell back into their old ways of spurning great chances.

Cullingworth’s keeper dealt easily with Aire Valley’s few shots on target and, for most of the second half, was unemployed.

Ben Chrispin, playing only his second game for Youth, was their man of the match.

Cullingworth host Premier Division Keighley Town on Sunday in the League Cup quarter-final.

Town returned to winning ways in the league as goals from Gary Shepherd (2), Leon Smith and Dan McHugh secured a comfortable 4-0 victory at home to Shipley Town.
