Wharfedale Triangle League - League Cup quarter-final: Cullingworth Youth 1 Keighley Town 4
TOWN progressed into the semi-finals, though Division One Cullingworth can be proud of their display against the Premier Division high-fliers.
Keighley dominated play in the first half and Youth were fortunate to be only a goal down at half-time, Leon Smith scoring in the 10th minute.
Playing downhill in the second period, Youth had as much of the play as their opponents and created as many goal-scoring opportunities but the visitors were more clinical.
The scoreline could have been closer as Cullingworth poured men forward late in the game. Town somehow cleared the ball after a goalmouth melee and, with Youth's keeper stranded up field, Smith was able to slot into an open goal.
A positive for the hosts was the return of centre back Dave Sanderson, who has been out injured for a month. He came on up front for the last ten minutes and soon made his presence felt with a goal.
Andy Wayper was Youth’s man of the match.
Keighley Town play FC Cuedos at Marley on Sunday while Cullingworth, who have no match this weekend, host Yeadon the following Sunday.
