FOUR people have put their names forward to be co-opted onto a vacant seat on Keighley Town Council.

Town clerk, Safia Kauser, confirmed last week the names have been received for a planned vote to fill the seat in Woodhouse and Hainworth ward.

She said these names will be circulated to town council members prior to the next meeting.

The council holds internal co-option votes to fill vacancies in cases where parishioners do not call for a public by-election.

The Woodhouse and Hainworth ward seat has been vacant since Councillor Barbara Archer resigned at the beginning of February.

A co-option vote was initially meant to take place at the end of March, but it was decided that councillors would not have had enough time to consider the different applicants before making a decision.

The co-option is now due to be staged at the next full council meeting, on April 28.
