A KEIGHLEY school has announced a hefty fundraising sum thanks to its pupils' efforts in aid of this year's Sport Relief.

The students from Oakbank took part in the Sport Relief Mile, a charity run following a one-mile route around their school's grounds.

This event involved all pupils who had a PE lesson on this day.

There was also an opportunity for students to complete the mile after school. The school raised a total amount of £1,396.

Pupils who achieved the fastest times in each year group and the top five students who raised the most sponsorship cash were each presented with an Easter egg.

Fastest boy overall was Jack Walton in year nine with a time of six minutes three seconds, and the fastest girl was Eve Crossley in year eight with a time of six minutes 27 seconds.

The top three students who raised the most sponsorship were Sky Mullen with £130, Ellie Dowse with £100 and Millie Bates with £64.

Melissa Houldsworth, who organised the run, said: "This was a great opportunity for staff and students to raise money for charity and keep fit at the same time. Well done to everyone involved."
