A SCHEME to equip Keighley with public defibrillators has seen the fifth and final one installed in the town centre.
The device has been fitted at the back of the market hall, opposite Morrisons supermarket.
Keighley town councillor, Ian Dermondy, began the scheme.
He successfully negotiated for the defibrillators with Yorkshire Ambulance Service, and the project has been funded by Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
Anyone who dials 999 and reports a possible cardiac arrest can be directed to the nearest defibrillator by the emergency operator.
Cllr Dermondy said: "I began this quest to make our town a safer place to live after being elected to the town council, and I am pleased to see the last device fitted and ready, should it ever be needed.
"I must say a massive thank-you to the CCG for its help and kind donations of the machines and housing boxes."
He added he is now working with villages to get some fitted there and looking into free first aid training for residents.
