KEIGHLEY, beaten by Bankfoot in the preliminary round of The All Rounder Cricket Bradford Premier League's Priestley Cup, may have found a silver lining in the Jack Hampshire Memorial Trophy.

In what is the equivalent of being demoted from the Champions League into the Europa League, the Lawkholme Laners found themselves at Rodley, who they dismissed for 101 in 33 overs on Sunday in the first round.

Max Davidson took 4-28, Matthew Haines 3-29 and Maaiz Khan 2-15 against the Conference Division strugglers.

Andy Wear (47) and Luke Chapman (28no) then put on 84 for the visitors' first wicket, and Keighley won by eight wickets in the 22nd over.

It was a much tighter affair the previous day in Championship A Division at Lawkholme Lane, with Undercliffe rattling up 235-7 off only 36 overs, with Hammy Shehzad taking 2-46 and Luke Chapman, the sixth bowler used, 2-31.

Keighley were up against it on 158-5 after 31 overs when rain stopped play, with wicket-keeper Johnathon Wilkinson 41 not out and overseas player Ben Hastie out for 40, Wear (30) and Chapman (29) having added 50 for the first wicket.

In Championship A Division for second teams, Keighley are up to second after timing their pursuit of Scholes' 136-7 off 30 overs just right, Zahir Abbas having taken 3-12.

Keighley replied with 137-6 off 29 overs, with Louis Horsefield (58 off 63 balls, including nine fours) and wicket-keeper Dan Murphy (41 off 45 balls, including five fours) propelling them to victory.

Keighley received a bye in the Wheatley Cup after their scheduled opponents Rodley conceded their tie.
