A KEIGHLEY town councillor who has been representing Guard House ward as a UK Independence Party member has today (May 25) announced he has quit the party.
Cllr Ian Dermondy has been a member of the town council since May 2015.
He confirmed: "From today I have resigned from UKIP. This has come about after much long and deep thought.
"I shall now sit as an independent councillor representing the ward of Guard House.
"I shall be continuing to support the 'leave' campaign for the referendum on the EU next month."
Cllr Dermondy, who lives in Guard House, was born in London but moved to Yorkshire 15 years ago.
