A NEW 'pay as you go' card could be just the ticket for Keighley bus travellers.

Keighley Transdev and TLC have launched the new MCard, which can be preloaded to buy tickets on their services.

The move has been introduced in partnership with West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA).

Cash top-ups for the card are available from bus station travel centres.

Alex Hornby, for Transdev, said: "We want to make customers' journeys as easy as possible, and we know less and less people carry loose change on them, so what better way to make sure you've got your bus fare covered than pre-loading it to a smart card.

"We've worked closely with WYCA and all operators across West Yorkshire to make this happen."

WYCA transport committee chairman, Councillor Keith Wakefield, said: "Pay-as-you-go on MCard is ideal for those who use buses but not regularly.

"People can get a white MCard, preload it with as little as £5 and then keep it in their wallet or purse for if and when they do need to catch a bus. It's a convenient alternative to cash and means people no longer need to worry about having change for their bus fare."
