ADVENTURERS are being sought to take part in a second Sue Ryder Kilimanjaro trek.

The expedition is being staged following the success of the venture last Christmas, which raised £38,000 for Oxenhope hospice Manorlands.

Trekkers will jet out on Boxing Day and head to the summit of Africa's highest mountain to see the first sunrise of 2017.

There is a £345 registration fee and each participant has a fundraising target of £3,250.

The cost of flights, accommodation and meals is included, together with a training guide and fundraising support.

Sarah Harrison, who was among the participants in the first trek, said: "The whole experience was out of this world.

"We have incredible memories from the trip.

"The feeling when you get back down from the mountain and realise what you have achieved is indescribable."

Last year, Manorlands provided around 130,000 hours of hospice care for people with incurable illnesses in the Airedale, Craven and North and West Bradford areas.

It costs the hospice £3.3 million a year to maintain its services and at least £2.1 million of that has to be found through donations and voluntary income.

As well as offering 16 in-patient beds and a day hospice service, Manorlands provides outpatient clinics in GP surgeries, a 24-hour advice service for healthcare professionals, tele-consultation enabling people to speak face-to-face with a doctor or nurse through their TV, family and bereavement support and care in people's own homes.
