A PAIR of nursery staff at a Worth Valley school have been congratulated for their success in a national awards scheme for people working in education.

Nursery teacher Laura Stoker and nursery nurse Joanne Paxford, who both work at Haworth Primary School, were nominated by parents for the Pearson Teaching awards.

They received certificates of excellence recognising their hard work and commitment to their profession.

Haworth Primary head teacher Helen Thompson said: "We are incredibly proud of our whole staff team and this is a real credit to the dedication and nurturing of our nursery staff."

She explained that she had endorsed the nomination for the pair, who were then assessed by a judging panel before receiving their certificates.

She added that this was the first time that staff from the school have been put forward for this awards scheme.

The Pearson Teaching Awards were established 16 years ago by David Puttnam as a means of celebrating excellence in education.

This scheme is designed to honour outstanding teachers and teaching and highlight how vital success in education is to the UK.
