LEADERS Haworth just clung on to top spot in Division One of the Mewies Solicitors Craven League after winning by four runs at Haworth Road.

The Bronte side collapsed from 95-1 in posting 121-8 from their 45 overs, Aaron Putko making 42 and Jamie Rowell 32 as Muhammad Zahid claimed 4-28.

The Baildon Bottom side had No 9 Charles Briggs (25no) to thank for getting them so close as they concluded on 117 at the end of the 44th over, Stephen Bell taking 5-38 and Richard Ellis 3-30.

Second-placed Bingley Congs were victorious by 66 runs at The Coliseum.

Danny Pearson (61) helped Congs to 162 as Ajmal Choudhry took 3-36 and new recruit Attique Khan 3-40 but Cowling were then dismissed for 96 as Mohammad Adil took 4-20 and Matt Roberts 4-22.

Denholme are making a decent fist of life in the top flight and beat visitors Riddlesden by 38 runs.

The hosts made 143 thanks to some tail-wagging, particularly by No 8 Adrian Shires (43), as Mohammed Zulfiqar claimed 7-31 off his allotted 15 overs.

Matthew Wear (4-16), Isaac Murray (3-29) and Ryan Jordan (3-39) helped the Grange Road side back into the hut for 105.

Sutton, still on their travels for 'home' games until their ground has recovered from work on their new pavilion, were at Victory Park, Barnoldswick and dismissed Foulridge for 124, Chris Walker taking 3-39.

The Royd Hill side replied with 128-5, Ryan Ridehalgh celebrating his birthday a day early by leading the way with 65 as Irfan Khalid took 5-35.

Oakworth showed a glimpse of their form as they won by 52 runs at Street Lane.

Ben Howell top-scored with 54 for the Cure Hill side as Wasim Hussain spun his way to 5-32. Ingrow St John's were then shot out for 118, with Gareth Marshall taking 3-27 and Joel Fothergill 3-37.

Five of Embsay's first six batsmen made only 17 between them but the reliable Duncan Ward (61), aided by skipper Phil Binner (32), helped them to 154 as Mohammed Jamil (6-54) and Jim O'Hara (3-22) pegged them back.

Only four Crossflatts players made double figures but they got home by two wickets. Dom Bennett (28) and Nathan Bradbury (36) started the chase well, with Austin Smith (22) and Vikram Bakshi (38) chipping in lower down as Eliott Stockton (3-21) induced a late wobble.

Division Two leaders Wilsden won by three wickets at Barrowford in a low-scoring game.

The home side struggled to 61, with No 11 Imran Akhtar scoring 23 not out as Sam Wilson took 4-13 and Stuart Wilson 3-20. Akhtar then took 7-13 off eight overs but could not prevent the Windy Grove side from snatching the points.

Second-placed Hepworth & Idle entertained Glusburn at Westfield Road and the visitors were going well at 141-2 before collapsing to 172-9, opener Neil Freeman scoring 73 not out and Steve Brown 58 as Jonathan Thompson took 3-46.

The hosts reached their target for the loss of eight wickets, Thomas Hawksworth (68) and Chris Hawksworth (33) doing the business with the bat as James Tillotson claimed 4-63.

Third-placed Haworth Road II seemed dead and buried at 144-9 chasing 191 at Chatburn when Andrew Morley (13no) joined Rob Greenwood (66no) and the pair took them to the spoils with just eight balls to spare.

Thornton-in-Craven made 165-8 up at Hainworth but Ingrow skipper Mark Price (84) helped his side to victory by six wickets.

Bradley were hustled out for 86 at Matthew Lane, with only skipper Caspar Bean (39) offering much resistance to Lee Rickaby (3-20) and Scott Ritchie (3-21).

Visitors Airedale had to work hard for the points, however, losing six wickets.

Newcomer Fahid Ali with 107 (11 fours, eight sixes), Muhammad Asim (79) and Talib Hussain (48) starred as Ingrow St John's II claimed the day's highest score of 302 at Oakworth, with young Harry Hollingsworth taking 4-30.

Fellow teenager Jordan Powell top-scored with 35 as the Cure Hill side replied on 156.

Division Three front-runners Long Lee entertained second-placed Sandy Lane and reduced them 32-6 before Mohammed Ishfaq hit 47 to get them to 114, with Jack McGrogan claiming 4-29 and Shahbaz Ahmed 4-34.

Then Mark Day (55no) and Richard Ayrton (47) added 93 for the third wicket to set up a seven-wicket win.

Third-placed Skipton CI are making a determined effort to get out of the division and dismissed Bingley Congs II for 95 at Beckfoot Lane, John Stuttard being the chief destroyer with 6-16.

Alex Horsfield (31no) and Sean Williamson (29no) put on an undefeated 50 for the fourth wicket to take the Sandylanders to victory.

Embsay II entertained Crossflatts II and restricted them to 108, with Simon Holt (3-17) and Paul Wormald (3-14) doing most of the damage.

But it took the Shires Laners 43.2 overs to reach their target for the loss of seven wickets, Dominic Kay scoring 28 as the miserly Dave Hall finished with 3-15 off 13 overs.

Gargrave II's John Beckwith (47), Carl Tetley (46) and Joe Metcalfe (39) were the main contributors to their 223-9 as Andy Dobson (4-23) and Jack Dixon (4-77) took the bowling honours.

Visitors Bradford & Bingley III were then humbled for 31, 'Mr Extras' top-scoring with eight in an innings which contained four ducks as Stuart Weatherill took 5-7 and Beckwith 5-17.

Eight-man Riddlesden II could have done with those three extra players as they lost at home to Denholme II by 18 runs.

The visitors made 111-9, of which Neil Spencer made 78 as Mo Qadeer took 4-29. The hosts' top scorer was Steve Bailey with 24 as Spencer took 4-30.

Eldwick & Gilstead conceded to Cononley.

Division Four leaders Foulridge II trounced Sutton II by eight wickets at Noyna, hustling the visitors out for 39 before taking just nine overs to win by eight wickets.

Seasoned campaigner Tim Rudden (30no) top-scored for Bradley II in their 102 at Airedale II, with Asad Ejaz taking 3-18 and Mohammed Hanif 3-24.

However, the Bradford Road side were teetering before Andy Gill (25no) and Hanif (16no) added an undefeated 37 for the seventh wicket.

Chatburn II prevailed by one wicket against winless Bingley Congs III at Bronte Fields, with Daniel Marshall (25 and 3-15) the star man.

Dale Mason (49) anchored Cononley II's 200-9, with Sam Birks (34) and 'Mr Extras' (27) also contributing.

In Long Lee II's reply of 198-9, Craig Pullen scored a superb 107 but was one of two wickets to fall in the penultimate over to Matthew Phillips (3-62) before Peter Hatton bowled the last batsman with the first ball of the final over.

Haworth II saw off Barrowford II by 33 runs and there was a tie between Sandy Lane II and Hepworth & Idle II on 97 each.

Chris Vollentine (52) and veteran John Cleaver (39) helped Cowling II to 157-8 at Wilsden II, for whom Mudasser Riaz took 5-48. The Windy Grove side then struggled to 89-9.

Oakworth III managed 93 at Skipton CI II, with Muhammad Khan hitting 41 as evergreen Chris Windle claimed 4-3 and Tariq Ghani 4-11, the Sandylanders losing three wickets in reaching their target.

Glusburn II posted 167-8 at home to Gargrave II, Richard Parkin (43) and Tanveer Akbar (34no) being the main contributors while Rich Saxby (4-33) was the most successful bowler.

The Skipton Road side then stormed to a seven-wicket triumph in 26.5 overs, Tony Spensley (91, including ten fours and six sixes) and Tom Storr (49no, four fours, three sixes) putting together a match-winning partnership of 105 for the third wicket.
