THE battle of the top two in Division One of the Bradford & District Evening League went the way of Denholme, but only just!

Chasing Stonewhite’s 106-8 (Amar Ullah 38), Adam Smith hit the two runs required to win off the last ball to give Denholme a four-wicket victory.

Smith finished on 22 not out, with opener Jack Holland having earlier made, while Amjad Hussain was the pick of the Stonewhite bowlers with 3-11.

Omars moved into joint second after an 80-run victory over Mayfield.

Mayfield conceded 138-7 (Q Saddiq 39) but the game was won by Omars bowlers, who dismissed Mayfield for 58 (Rahat Shah 3-7, Mohammed Pandor 3-17).

Great Horton Park Chapel made what they thought was a competitive 129-7 at Shelf, with Matthew Jordan top-scoring with 28 as Amer Rashid took 3-26 for Shelf.

But in-form opener Amer Ayoub again retired on 53 to steer Shelf to victory for the loss of just two with three overs to spare.

Fourteen wickets fall for less than 80 runs as Salem Athletic (45-4) beat Thornton (42, Khalid Usman 3-7).

In Division Two, Greenfield remain the only unbeaten team in the league after also notching an 80-run victory over second-placed Bradshaw.

Greenfield scored a superb 212-2 from just 16 overs, with significant contributions from overseas Atif Zaidi (54no), Sajid Ali (52no) and Babar Hussain (43). In reply, Bradshaw made a spirited 132-5, Sam Crowther top-scoring with 51 not out.

Ciroc were also among the runs, scoring 162-5 against Daisy Hill (Awais Ejaz 50no, Amjad Khan 43no). Opener Mahesh Patel made a defiant 45 not out for Daisy Hill, who ended on 93-7.

Iqbal Khan (31) was the only batsman to shine for West Bowling, who made 56-7 from their 16 overs against tight bowling from John Breare (Cieran Garner 4-17).

Breare only needed 9.1 to pass this total, thanks to a 50-run opening partnership between Cieran Garner (24) and Daniel Holah (22), with Fahad Khan picking up all three wickets to fall for just 11 runs.

Kevin McDermott continued his fine start to the season with 50 not out against Cambing as Hepworth & Idle posted 118-5. Cambing were 63-9, with Jordan Moore taking 3-1.
