A HOST of attractions is lined-up for this year's Keighley Show.

Organisers say a wide range of activities to cater for everyone will be staged on the showground.

Among the draws in the main ring will be Dangerous Steve.

He began presenting a motorbike stunt show at the age of just six.

Now his act also includes fire and chainsaw juggling, a giant unicycle and ladder balancing.

"It's a hilarious and dynamic act full of sensational stunts – a real crowd pleaser!" said a show spokesman.

There will also be a sheep roadshow, with four different breeds introduced on stage to music followed by a shearing demonstration.

And Keighley-based NRGym will be in attendance, with a series of strongman events open to teams and individuals.

Its programme will feature traditional competitions to test people's strength and brawn, including tyre flipping, a tug-of-war, bale races and truck pulling.

Making a return will be attractions including the City of Bradford Pipe Band, the ever-popular terrier racing, vintage tractors, ferret races, Greenside alpacas and heavy horses.

The annual show, which takes place at Marley playing fields on September 3, also features an array of competition classes which are open for entries.

As well as horses, cattle, sheep, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs and poultry, there are sections for horticulture, handicrafts and produce and flower arranging.

Schedules containing details of all classes are available at keighleyshow.co.uk, from Keighley Information Centre in the town hall, by e-mailing secretary@keighleyshow.co.uk or by calling 01535 930459.

This year's president is butcher and town councillor Chris Herd, who has been a supporter of the show's livestock section for many years.

Businesses keen to promote their wares are also being urged to take a spot at the event.

Bookings are open for trade stand spaces and craft and local food stalls.

Outdoor trade stand slots start from £50 and stalls in the craft and food marquee from £55.

"This is a great opportunity for people to promote their business or organisation to the local community and to a wider Yorkshire and Lancashire audience," said Christine Highley, last year's show president.

"The show is an action-packed day, with a wide variety of attractions and large crowds turning-up with money in their pockets to spend!

"Any size of trade stand can be booked and you can bring along your own tent/gazebo and equipment – or marquees, tables and chairs can be hired at a very reasonable rate.

"Stalls in the craft and local food marquee are for individuals or businesses that have produced at least 75 per cent of what they are selling.

"Local food producers must be based in Yorkshire or within a 50-mile radius of the showground. We particularly welcome those who can also demonstrate their skills to the visiting pubic."
