THE latest instalment of an annual six-a-side charity football tournament in Keighley to support the British Heart Foundation (BHF) has been a success.

The event, organised by local resident Darren Gilmartin, was staged at Marley earlier this month.

Thackley beat Speedline in the final and the 2016 tournament, which also included a fun afternoon, raised an total of £1,785.

Mr Gilmartin said: "It was a very hot day but the tournament went really well.

"The prize for player of the tournament went to Gary Shepherd.

"After the matches at Marley, we went back to the Great Northern Pub to enjoy a barbecue, bouncy castle and other entertainments.

"I would like to thank everyone who helped out and made it a great day for all."

Mr Gilmartin decided to support the BHF after suffering a heart attack in 2012. His father, Noel, died of a heart attack more than five years ago.

This was the fourth year the charity football tournament has been held.
