IT is a great relief to report that after 18 months of working closely with the Highways authorities, we are once again able to welcome steam locomotives transported by road into Ingrow Station.

There was a restriction imposed on one of the bridges on the route that isolated us from the road network at Ingrow, and this was compounded by the flooding on Boxing Day last year that resulted in limitations at Haworth.

The impact of this was that we had to bring any visiting locomotives by rail. But with relatively few locos being main line certified and pressure on the timetable on the Airedale Line, we have had very few visitors during this period.

The first locomotive to return since the end of the restriction's imposition arrived at Ingrow last week.

Black Five number 45212 has been restored by Ian Riley at his works, and is nearing the end of an overhaul that will see it operated and running on the main line for much of the next few years.

This means we can have a chance to see in operation a historic locomotive that has been a member of the Preservation Society's fleet since 1968.

Lifting the restriction also means that we can welcome visiting locomotives to special events once again, so please check on the website for details as we continue finalising plans for the coming months.

Our Ingrow Station is now a hive of activity with the launch of Rail Story, which brings together the Railway and the two resident museums at the site – Bahamas Locomotive Society's museum and their Learning Carriage along with the Vintage Carriage's Trust's Museum of Rail Travel.

There are a number of events planned during the year so please visit the railstory.co.uk website for more details.

We are also again working with the Brontë Parsonage Museum to jointly fund a vintage bus service between Haworth Station, Main Street and the parsonage to help visitors enjoy all that the area has to offer.

The bus is free to Rover ticket holders and there is a discount for our Rover ticket holders at the parsonage and for their own visitors on the Railway. The trains and connecting bus will be running daily until September 11.

Over the summer we will have a wide range of events, including afternoon tea services, allowing you to enjoy an afternoon tea in the opulence of our Pullman or Dining carriages.

There will also be Vintage Train running days when you can travel in very aged carriages usually stored under cover in one of the museums on the line. If you are feeling peckish we will have the ever-popular Haworth Haddock fish & chip and live music entertainment evenings.

New for this year we are putting on a South Asian culinary experience, the Keighley Korma, which offers a superb curry from one of Keighley's finest restaurants.

Details of all these events, booking details (where necessary) and times of the trains are all available on our website.
