A FORMER care home at Harden was sold – just before it was due to go under the hammer at auction.
The mansion that housed St Ives Disabled Care Centre was among the scheduled lots in a residential sale staged in London by property consultancy Allsop.
But shortly before Wednesday's auction, the building – which had a £400,000-plus guide price – was withdrawn and a 'sold prior' note posted on the firm's website.
Allsop declined to comment when contacted by the Keighley News.
The care home, on the St Ives estate, shut in April after Elder Homes Bingley Ltd went into administration. The 28 residents were rehomed.
Friends of St Ives chairman, Pam Laking, said the mansion was hugely important and at the heart of the estate.
"I'm glad it has been sold and hope that whoever has bought it will be happy to work with us for the good of St Ives," she added.
"We look forward to meeting the buyer, whoever it may be."
