TWO teachers from Finland have been on a fact-sharing visit to the area.

Maria Salminen and Susanna Kokko, from the city of Oulu, visited Steeton and Eastburn schools.

They spoke to the pupils about school life back home and shared ideas, particularly about mathematics and craft and technology, with their hosts.

"Children in both schools were fascinated to hear about life in Finland and were especially interested in the snowy winters and long summer holidays!" said teacher, Diana Linford.

"Finland is changing its curriculum this year and the visitors were interested to see how English schools use a creative topic-based curriculum."

The visit was funded by Erasmus+, which enables teachers and students within the EU to visit other European institutions for training and to share ideas and good practice.

During their stay, Maria and Susanna also explored the Yorkshire Dales.
