A KEIGHLEY museum was buzzing when it hosted an activity day run by a local branch of beekeepers.

The Airedale Beekeepers Activity Day took place at Cliffe Castle, with families invited to learn more about bees and their complex society.

Activities included making jointed bees, and colouring and quizzes to keep children busy.

Visitors could see the museum’s permanent observational hive and also look at the group’s 'virtual hive', which allows people to look at the inner workings of a hive without disrupting the bees.

There is a Meet the Beekeepers event at Cliffe Castle every Tuesday this month.

Members of the group will answer questions about their work and any bee-related queries.

The beekeepers are based at nearby East Riddlesden Hall and East Morton.

The events are part of the summer programme at the museum, in Cliffe Castle Park, which includes an Alice in Wonderland exhibition and screenings of Disney’s Alice movie.
