SALTS and Littletown are level with defending champions Huddersfield YMCA at the the top of the Taylor's Timber West Riding County Amateur League after important victories at the weekend.

Huddersfield dropped two points on Friday evening, drawing 2-2 with Golcar United in their Premier Division clash.

Salts travelled to promoted Overthorpe SC the following day and, with skipper Joe Pleasance leading the way with two goals plus an own goal, they won 1l-3.

Littletown were 2-0 adrift at home to visitors Halifax Irish at the break through goals from Jason Carney and Gareth Sherwood, but spurred on by a Joe Jagger treble and one from Tom Thorpe they ran out 4-2 winners.

Steeton were also amongst the goals as Lee Reilly netted twice to add to others from Sam Rooke and Michael Rhodes in their 4-0 home victory over DRAM Community FC.

Thornton United continued their perfect start in Division One with a 7-1 home success over newcomers Churwell Lions – Marcus Davey with three, assisted by two goals each from Luke Hepton and Ryan Stubbs, whilst Ashley Williams scored Cherwell's consolation.

West Horton and Wakefield City retained their unbeaten start with a 2-2 draw when they met at Myra Shay, with Mohammed Ikram and Shehraz Mahmood scoring for West Horton, whilst Oliver Rawson and Ryan Barker were on target for Wakefield City.

Wibsey had a fruitless journey to Holmfirth Town, and returned home pointless after losing 7-0.

Route One Rovers took full advantage of their hosts Hunsworth having a player sent off and piled on the goals with Hassan Ali netting four, Shamraz Hussan two and substitute Mohammed Alam scoring in their 7-1 success.

Tyersal Reserves started their Division Two season with a 5-0 away victory at DRAM Community Reserves, with Luke Dyson (2), Liam Moore and Tyrone Price scoring for Tyersal.

Thornton United Reserves also started off with a win as Stephen Wilkinson and Elliott Holmes scored in their 2-1 win at Lower Hopton Res. Salts Reserves and TVR United shared four goals in a 2-2 draw.
