MODEL-railway fans will be making tracks to Keighley next month.

The town's model railway club is staging its eighth annual 7mm festival, on Sunday, October 9.

There will be a range of O gauge layouts – including Water Street Sidings, which features in this month's issue of British Railway Modelling magazine – demonstrations and specialist traders.

Catering will be provided by Denholme Scouts, who will serve-up hot and cold food and homemade cakes.

The event takes place at the clubrooms in Keighley Business Centre, South Street – just a stone's throw from the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, which holds an autumn steam gala that same weekend.

Club chairman, Charles Oldroyd, said: " Over the past seven years the festival has matured into an established event in the O gauge calendar, featuring a selection of our extensive range of 7mm layouts as well as guest layouts from other clubs in the north of England.

"Our 7mm group has been well known throughout the modelling world for over 30 years, for creating some of the country's most sought-after exhibition-standard layouts – winning many awards along the way."

The festival is open from 10am to 4pm.

Admission is £4 for adults and £2.50 for juniors, aged up to 16. Children under five are admitted free.
