Police urge motorists to be wary of a man on the bypass near Steeton who has tried to con drivers out of their money
POLICE have this afternoon warned motorists to be on their guard against a fraudster who has allegedly been active along the bypass near Steeton.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "We have had further reports of a man on the A629 - Steeton area requesting money for petrol, claiming he is running out and has no means to pay.
"He is offering gold rings in return which turn out to be worthless.
"We ask drivers to please be mindful, and to contact police on 101 if flagged down."
