PARISH councils in South Craven and other parts of the district have won high praise from their MP.
Julian Smith was speaking after attending a meeting of the Yorkshire Local Councils Association Craven branch.
He addressed delegates about the need for parish and town councils to work together to take advantage of Government devolution proposals for Yorkshire and to continue to operate creatively with reduced funds.
Mr Smith said afterwards: "It was great to be able to speak to all the representatives at the meeting.
"Our local parish and town councils do a very important job for their residents and there are so many examples of good practice in our area, from broadband to bus services.
"I commend the excellent work that parish councils do and all of those who give-up their time to be a part of these bodies."
