A DEVELOPER has told of its delight at burgeoning links with a village school.
Howard Mee, of Miller Homes Yorkshire, was speaking following a visit to Eastburn Junior & Infant School.
He and technical manager Mark Bray visited youngsters in years two and three and explained how the company – which is building houses in the village – chooses between natural and artificial stone, the materials used in making bricks and window frames and the use of concrete mix.
They also covered issues such as the transportation of materials, building regulations and minimising impact on the environment.
"Education is so important and we were delighted to help the children learn more about our industry and how we construct our homes," said Mr Mee, area land and planning director with Miller Homes.
"We hope that we've helped them understand the practicalities of housebuilding and look forward to welcoming them to our Eastburn development, Airedale Lea, very soon for the next phase of their studies."
Year-three teacher, Ruth McMeekin, thanked the company for its support.
She added: "We look forward to the possibility of a future site visit, where the children will be able to appreciate a further dimension to housebuilding."
