National League Two North: Otley 39 Tynedale 21

OTLEY scored a try in the first minute and were 29 points ahead after 53 minutes.

However, they then faced a fightback from Tynedale, who snatched two converted tries in the next five minutes to get back into the game, only to see the hosts clinically secure their unbeaten home record and notch their first league win over their Corbridge visitors.

A clearing kick at the start was run back by Otley winger Paul Petchey, who raced in at the corner for full back Tom Hodson to convert this and his own try when coming up on the wing minutes later.

Then, attacking from a deep 22-metre drop out, a fine long pass by centre Jack Mackie was picked up by winger James Wood, who fought through to the line.

The home pack were having the better of the forward battle, moving on significantly for centre Henry Roberts to find a gap to snatch the bonus-point try and set up a 24-0 half-time lead.

But there was a change after the break, with Tynedale coming out strongly and testing the Otley defence.

However, against the run of play, the pacy Hodson again came up outside Wood to go in at the corner.

But Tynedale were not done, and centre William Miller went in for them, followed four minutes later, after Otley prop Tipiloma Kivalu had been yellow-carded, winger Henry Hadfield, with fly half Ashley Smith converting both.

A penalty from Hodson was then followed by a converted Tynedale try by centre Jack Harrison but Otley responded with another converted try from Wood on 80 minutes.
