AN INTERNATIONALLY-known comedy hypnotist aims to put fellow Keighlians under his spell.

Dave Rawson will return to his birth town on December 28 to perform at the Octagon on Bradford Road, Sandbeds.

Dave Rawson was born in 1958, attending Ingrow, Bronte and Oakbank Schools before working at Peter Blacks then joining the Royal Navy.

As a naval medical assistant he began performing magic, going on to win many awards for his Close Up Comedy Act.

In his early 30s he studied the art of hypnosis and began performing semi-professionally as a comedy hypnotist, turning professional after leaving the Royal Navy and moving to Ibiza.

He has performed on the Spanish island for the past 17 summers, entertaining more than 70,000 people each year.

In the winter he has taken his show as far afield as Hong Kong, Thailand, Goa, Egypt and the Canaries, also performing on American cruise ships and hypnotising famous celebrities.

Dave’s sister Beverley Silcock and brother Robert Rawson still live in Keighley.

During his December 28 performance at the Octagon, David will share the bill with popular Peter Kay tribute act Lee Lard.
