POPULAR Keighley band Soulfish, who packed local venues several years ago, are back with a new name.

The “revamped, bigger and better” band will be known as Soul Train and will see 11 musicians and singers take the stage.

Soul Train has been put together by original Soulfish members Gary Marshall, Pete Foxon and Phil Swale and will again perform classic soul and Motown hits.

The debut gig will be on December 31 as part of the annual Okeh Cokey night organised by Keighley Okeh Soul Club at Victoria Hall in Keighley.

Pete Foxon said the band had been working hard all year recruiting members and perfecting a lively, energetic catalogue of classic soul/Motown hits.

He said: "I'm so excited that the band has reformed and decided to get back out on the circuit.

“We’ve got a fantastic line-up of musicians and singers who have shown true dedication and commitment, which has enabled us to produce a high standard of quality music and performance.”

The band have been working since July on new songs, a promotion video and recording of demo tracks, ready for the official launch on New Years Eve and into regular gigs next year.

Okeh Soul Club founder Gary Greenwood said: "We are really looking forward to New Year's Eve. We don't normally put on live bands but having seen and heard what Soul Train are about, we thought it would be fantastic idea to host the band.

“The event is set to be a spectacular lively evening with reputable DJs to include Gary Chatburn, Alex and John Sims, Steve Burke and Lodgie.”
