A NEWLY-elected school council has helped develop an anti-bullying policy.

The youngsters at Eastburn Junior and Infant School worked with staff on the strategy.

"They revised and improved the main policy before developing a child-friendly version to share with pupils," said a school spokesman.

"The school council defined bullying as 'behaviour, repeated over time, which intentionally hurts another individual or group either physically or emotionally'.

"Next job for members will be to share the policy with the children in their own classes.

"We have only recently elected our school council for the year and it has wasted absolutely no time in getting started on work that will make a real difference."

The council, comprising two representatives from each class, meets at least once every half term to discuss issues affecting the school community.
