WILSDEN Parish Council has agreed to pay for extra mowing of grass in Royd Park and the nearby Townfield area.
This is in addition to grass cutting carried out by Bradford Council in the village 10 times a year, a reduction on previous levels due to public spending cuts.
A local nursery quoted £360 for one cut, which would include strimming all edges, leaf collection and removal of all grass cuttings and debris, and £260 for any further cuts.
At their recent meeting, councillors agreed to go ahead with one more cut.
The parish council ordered 24 Christmas trees for local businesses, including extra trees this year for the opticians, Caterleisure and the Station pub in Harecroft.
The council had spent £800 on Christmas preparations, and asked for volunteers to help string lights on to the trees.
As part of a discussion of the council’s draft budget for 2017/18, it was suggested provided Yorkshire flags to put into the businesses’ Christmas tree holders.
