FREAK folk and anti-folk is on offer from an Austrian performer in Keighley.

Alicia Edelweiss will perform at the Exchange Arts Centre in Russell Street, on Thursday, December 8.

She’ll be joined at the venue by London act Me Rex, who perform acoustic pop and synth punk, and Bradford’s Gerrard Bell-Fife, who performs “small f folk”.

As Sirens Fall will end their Christmas tour with a hometown gig at the Exchange on December 18 at 7.30pm.

The band presents epic alt rock , with support from fellow local bands Ashestoangels and Your Illuminations.

The Exchange offers a Christmas present to death metal fans with an event entitled Winter Is Coming on December 10.

Starting at 5pm, the gig features performances by Valafer, Blasphemer, Annunciation and Scryre along with other bands.

A spokesman said: “It will be a night of brutality, featuring some of the UK's best death metal acts. Get yourselves down for this monumental event. Only £5 on the door.”

Long-established Keighley band Sounds Of Swami will play all the songs from the Foo Fighters’ first album on December 17.

A spokesman said: “For Fans Of Weezer, Ash and Pixies, Black Surf are one of the most exciting Leeds bands around at the moment.

“There is support from local fuzz grunge popsters Flea Market and powerpop songwriter genius Luke Hirst.”

Ming City Rockers will headline on December 22, promising an explosion of fast tunes, huge riffs and lyrical bile, with a sound that blends New York Dolls and MC5.

Ozzbest is a popular Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath tribute on December 23, with support from Psycho Spoons.

The Exchange’s New Year's Eve party will feature top local acts Foxes Faux, Sleepy Jake and the Duvets and Wolf 359.

The spokesman said: “We’ll be seeing off a swine of a year in the best way we know, tons of ace live music, good times, the annual Pinata slaughter, and a party after the bands till late!”
