INCOMMUNITIES group chief executive Geraldine Howley has received an honorary degree.

She has been made a doctor of the University of Bradford.

Mrs Howley received the accolade in recognition of her "outstanding contribution to housing" across the district.

She has led the Keighley social housing group, which is among the largest providers of its type in the region, since 2003.

Earlier this year, she was appointed vice-chairman of the Chartered Institute of Housing's governing board following a term as the organisation's president.

During her presidential year, she helped raise over £47,000 for the Prince's Trust.

Mrs Howley said she was delighted to be awarded the honorary degree.

"It is an incredible feeling to receive this honour and I'm particularly proud that my family was able to be with me at the ceremony," she added.

"It's great recognition for the enormous work and investment that Incommunities as a group has made in modernising thousands of local homes across the district and investing in improving people's lives.

"I am a strong believer in teamwork and I would like to thank staff and colleagues for the support I've received over the years."
