PARKSIDE School’s under-13s girls soccer team scored their first goal in a recent match.

The Cullingworth school’s team took part in the EFL Football League Cup hosted by Bradford City at the city’s SportsZone.

Parkside PE teacher Ben Miller said: “The girls played really well and were a credit to themselves and the school.

“In some blustery and bitterly cold conditions they managed to play some good football and really enjoyed themselves. They finished joint 4th in our league!”

The team are Megan Dobbin, Eve Robertshaw, Jessica Mann, Darcy Crabtree, Courtney Stone, Leah Smith and Morgan Ratcliffe.

Girls from Parkside were runners-up in a district-wide soccer competition earlier this year.

The year eight and nine girls’ football team competed in the Bradford Schools five-a-side competition at Marley sports ground in Keighley.

The team cruised through the early stages of the competition, then lost by one goal in the final.

The girls were joined at the tournament by Wayne Jacobs, a former professional footballer with Bradford City and Hull City.
