A KEIGHLEY school is taking part in a robotics challenge.
Nine year-seven students from Beckfoot Oakbank will compete on Wednesday (Dec 14) in a First Lego League contest at Bradford University.
The youngsters have been challenged to design and build a robot capable of carrying out various tasks.
They will also be judged on team skills and complete a project on the theme Animal Allies.
Students chose to examine the impact on wildlife of construction work currently being carried out at the Beckfoot Oakbank site, where a new school is being built.
"They have carried out bug studies and will continue to monitor it over the rebuild period," said a school spokesman.
"They've also created an information board so staff and students can see the types of wildlife we have and how we can look after it.
"The students have worked alongside the science technical team and given-up mornings and after-school time to practice for this major event."
