A CHARITY lamb show and sale has herded-up over £3,500 for Manorlands.

More than 30 lambs donated by farmers from across the region were auctioned off at the annual Addingham & District Sheep Breeders' Association event, at Skipton Auction Mart.

The line-up – mainly Mule wethers – included the show champion, which alone netted £900.

Organisers say the £3,509 total was the highest raised for several years.

Spokesman Joe Throup said: "This was a superb result and we wholeheartedly thank all who donated lambs and other items for sale and the many others who dug deep at the ringside for an extremely worthy local cause."

Tribute is paid by Karen Jones, a fundraiser at the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

"It is wonderful to receive this donation and we're so grateful to everyone for thinking of us," she said.

"They all work tirelessly throughout the year and to then donate lambs for a charity auction is such a kind gesture.

"We are overwhelmed by the amount raised.

"The money will help us to continue providing our incredible hospice care across the community, including Craven, for which we cannot thank the team enough."

Since the event was launched a decade ago, it has now raised more than £36,000 for Manorlands.
