POLICE are seeking a convicted murderer – believed to be in the Keighley area – who is on the run after breaching his licence conditions.

Amjab Ali Azam, 35, is wanted on recall to prison.

Also known as Amjad, he was released on licence in November last year after serving more than 12 years of a 15-year sentence.

The sentence was passed in 2003 when Azam was part of a “ferocious” gang which plotted the murder of security guard Qadir Ahmed, from Keighley.

Police would also like to speak to Azam about two matters of assault.

Extensive inquiries have been carried out to trace him.

He is described as Asian, about 6ft 2ins tall, of broad build with brown eyes and short black hair and he sometimes wears glasses.

Anyone who sees him is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

In a separate inquiry, police are also appealing for help to find Wasim Mumtaz.

The 34-year-old is being hunted in connection with several alleged offences, including breaching a court order and allegations of harassment and criminal damage in Colne.

He is described as 5ft 8ins tall and of broad build.
