OUTDOOR activities for schoolchildren are being staged throughout the winter by Keighley social enterprise Get Out More.

Games, woodland crafts and campfire lighting and cooking are among the pursuits on offer in the Keighley East ward.

The activities are part of the Outdoor Adventure Club programme, funded by the Big Lottery Awards for All.

Sessions, for young people aged nine to 15, are headed by qualified leaders.

Activities are planned at Park Wood on February 4 and March 4 and at Hainworth Woods and the Riddlesden St Mary's Primary School grounds during the February half-term holidays.

Annie Berrington, Get Out More managing director, said: "In winter it's tempting for children to spend all their time indoors watching TV and playing on computers, but it's important to get some fresh air and exercise for health and wellbeing.

"The aim of the Outdoor Adventure Club is to encourage children and young people to get out more, meet new people and enjoy being outdoors whatever the weather."
