Wharfedale Triangle League Premier Division: Yeadon Vets 5 Cullingworth Youth 2

Cullingworth Youth can have no excuse for their defeat, having had a full squad and three subs.

Yet in the first 45 minutes they played very well and were the better team, opening the scoring in the tenth minute when a great cross from the left wing was headed in by Chris Mawson.

Shortly after, Vets equalised but Cullingworth continued to create the better chances and an own goal gave them the lead again.

However, against the run of play Vets found the net twice just before the break and the less said about Youth’s second-half performance the better.

They conceded a further two goals and their display was just the opposite to the first period.

Dave Sanderson was Youth’s man of the match. Cullingworth will look to get back on track at Yeadon Athletic on Sunday.

* Keighley Town kept up the pressure on leaders Sky Bet with a 5-0 win at neighbours Keighley Athletic.

Leon Smith bagged a hat-trick with other goals from Michael Donohoe and Bradley Coles.
