A CROSS Roads insurance brokers is marking a milestone by raising cash for Manorlands.

G Moore & Co is staging a raffle in support of the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

The initiative is part of the firm's 50th anniversary celebrations.

Main prize in the raffle, which will be drawn at a special birthday party on June 16, is 25 years of free home contents insurance.

Tickets are £2 and can be bought directly from the firm, in Albion Street, or from the Manorlands fundraising office.

The company is boosting the cash pot by donating £10 for every new policy taken out.

Customers just need to quote Happy Birthday when signing-up.

Proceeds from that venture will be split with the Friends of Cross Roads Park.

Scott Wilkins, office manager at G Moore & Co, said: "We all have family or know people who have received care from Manorlands.

"We feel the local community would suffer greatly without that care the hospice brings to the area.

"It shocked us to learn that Manorlands needs £9,000 each and every day in order to stay open – it makes you realise more than ever that a huge amount of fundraising is required.

"How could we not try to help this magnificent cause, when it truly does need the help of the local community?"

Manorlands fundraiser, Hayley Ibbotson, thanks the firm for its backing.

"It's great to see that a thriving local business is keen to show its support for the hospice by organising fundraising initiatives," she said.

"We're so thankful to the team at G Moore & Co.

"We rely on the backing of the community to help us continue – simply put, we just couldn't provide the level of care and support we do to our patients and their families without it."

Manorlands supports patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families at the hospice and in the community, across an area covering Craven, Airedale and Wharfedale as well as parts of Bradford.

All services are free to patients and their loved ones, but only a small part of the cost of running Manorlands is covered by statutory funds.

Most of the money has to be raised through voluntary donations.
