THE volunteer committee in charge of running Haworth Village Hall and Community Hub has been praised for its efforts.

Speaking at the latest meeting of Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury Parish Council, Councillor Angel Kershaw said the committee has now secured a full premises licence for the building in Butt Lane, enabling it to host a range of entertainment.

"The committee has over £10,000 in the bank, its members have done very well and I very much appreciate their hard work," she added.

"They've had their AGM, they are making some changes to their constitution and then they will be re-submitting an application to become a charity.

"If they get this charity status it will allow them to claim back VAT and pay a lower business rate."
