SEVEN house burglaries and 14 thefts from vehicles were among crimes reported in Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury between November 21 and January 16.

The law and order update was presented to members of Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury Parish Council by police constable Eddie Irving.

He said the same period had also seen four thefts of vehicles, six assaults, nine cases of criminal damage and five instances of theft, including a theft of stone in Stanbury.

PC Irving said he was waiting to be provided with security camera footage of youths responsible for antisocial behaviour on the forecourt of Haworth Railway Station.

Parish council chairman Councillor Gary Swallow said he was concerned about motorists who are using Haworth Main Street as a through road.

"It's quite obvious that some people are ignoring the access only rule," he added. "It's a nuisance when you have to move out of the way of cars driving up and down the street on busy days."

PC Irving noted that many vehicles do drive along the street for access purposes, so it is difficult to enforce the rules against those motorists using Main Street as a through road.
