COUNCILLORS in the Worth Valley agreed to make a formal complaint to Bradford Council over what they perceive as poor enforcement of planning rules.

The move was accepted by members of Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury Parish Council at their latest full meeting.

Parish council chairman Councillor Gary Swallow said: "This is something we discussed at our last meeting.

"We've had a few cases where Bradford Council have been dragging their feet over enforcement cases and not taking action. This has been going on for months."

Cllr Angel Kershaw added: "It's high time that we complained. Some people are now thinking they can build what they want, because the rules won't be enforced."

Responding to news of the formal complaint, Ian Horsfall, Bradford Council’s planning manager, said: “In the last five years we have investigated and closed 65 cases and we have 47 open cases.

"We will look into any information that is provided by Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury Parish Council.”
